As a dedicated group of individuals, our people show as much enthusiasm and respect for our customers’ businesses as for our own. EDW customers can be confident that they are working with highly competent, experienced and professional people who are effective from the first day of an engagement.

EDW has extensive experience in analysing electricity supplier business requirements to create system solutions.

The EDW management team have all held electricity supply operational roles and so have an in-depth understanding of the key industry issues allowing EDW to deliver systems and services that meet our customers’ needs.

Gareth Downing

Development Manager

Gareth manages software development at EDW and is responsible for EDW's development team, methodology, processes and technology. Gareth has a passion for delivering technically demanding, mission critical solutions in a fast paced environment.

Gareth has extensive experience in working with Java in creating enterprise level applications. Prior to joining EDW Gareth was Development Manager at Clearlybusiness, a flagship innovation unit of Barclays Bank, and Merced Systems where he transformed the development environment from VB to Java and Waterfall to Agile (Scrum).

Gareth is a Certified Scrum Master (CSM) and Certified PRINCE2 Practitioner, with a 2nd class BEng (Hons) Electronic and Electrical Engineering from Birmingham University and is currently studying for a Masters in Software and Systems Security at Oxford.


Roberta Musson

Quality Assurance Manager

Roberta is responsible for ensuring the highest levels of quality within ERS for our customers by implementing quality management throughout the development process. This involves working across all EDW teams to introduce on-going process improvement and automation to drive efficiency and productivity.

Roberta has extensive experience in quality assurance and software testing. Prior to joining EDW Roberta work at IBM as a senior test consultant and at Barclays Bank as Test Programme Manager where she was responsible for implementing a centre of testing excellence for the bank. Roberta also has energy industry knowledge gained from roles at EON, British Energy and Electricity Direct.

Roberta is a PRINCE2 Practitioner with an MBA from the University of Warwick Business School, an MSc in African Studies and a BA (Hons) in Sociology from Warwick University.


Rene Adams

Release Manager

Rena ensures the optimal management of work in EDW software releases to achieve quality software delivery on time and within budget and is responsible for planning, coordinating and supervising software releases using EDW’s Agile methodology. Rene is a very experienced systems professional having spent 10 years working for Microsoft. Her last role before joining EDW was as the Release Manager for Microsoft Dynamics across Europe, Africa & the Middle East.

Prior to joining EDW and her role at Microsoft Business Solutions Rene worked for Price Waterhouse Coopers as a management consultant and was a lecturer at Durban University of Technology.

Rene has an MBA and is a Bachelor of Commerce (Economics, Accounting, Business Economics) and gained a National Diploma in EDP and System Analysis form Durban University of Technology.


Ed Kilby

Technical Architect

Ed is responsible for the technical architecture of ERS and assists in the development of EDW's technical roadmap. Ed plays a key role in the design and development of new software and keeps abreast of the latest technologies to ensure that EDW is at the forefront of innovation so that it can be used to the benefit of our customers.

Prior to joining EDW Ed worked as a software developer at Ingram Micro where he developed their EMEA B2B web commerce application and also spent some time as a software developer at IMS Maxims. He has a 1st class degree in Computing from the University of Derby and is a Sun Certified Programmer.


Greg Armstrong

Solution Architect

Greg is EDW's Solution Architect responsible for EDW's front office systems, principally the Energy Retail Suite. Greg joined EDW in 2002 and has worked in a number of roles including systems analyst, business change manager and solution architect. He has developed extensive electricity retail industry knowledge over this period and is a key contributor to EDW's product roadmap.

Prior to EDW, after graduating from Bristol University with an upper 2nd class MEng (Hons) in Aeronautical Engineering with European Studies, Greg moved directly into IT setting up a UK subsidiary for Trace Software, a French Computer Aided Design software development company. The creation of this subsidiary, and the translation of the Trace Software products, opened the international markets for the group.


Peter O'Donavan

Solution Architect

Peter is EDW's Solution Architect responsible for middle and back office systems including trading, risk management, forecasting, data management and business intelligence. Peter is responsible for the extension of EDW's solution capability into these areas through product development, partnering and acquisition.

Peter has developed extensive energy trading and risk management experience over the last 10 years following spells at the Noble Group, International Power, and Sungard (Zainet ETRM systems). Previously Peter worked for Elexon where he was involved with the design and implementation of BETTA.

Peter is a PRINCE2 Practitioner and has a BEng & BCom in Manufacturing Engineering and Commerce, upper 2nd Class with Double Honours, from the University of Birmingham.


Bryan Harget

Systems Analysis Team Leader

Bryan has been with EDW for 7 years and has worked in a number of roles since joining us following a university placement year. Bryan has developed an extensive knowledge of ERS and now manages the Systems Analysis Team working closely with EDW's Solution Delivery Team and Architects to devise the best designs for enhancing ERS.

Bryan has an upper 2nd class (Hons) degree in Computer Science from De Montfort University.


Neil Watson

System Implementation Manager

Neil is responsible for the delivery of EDW software projects to our customers. He has extensive experience across many industry sectors including electricity retail, finance, telecommunications and government.

Neil has nearly 20 years' project management experience covering the full software implementation lifecycle – bid management, contract negotiation, implementation, delivery, product launch, customer training and support.

Prior to joining EDW Neil was a senior project manager with Hewlett-Packard where he was responsible for the delivery of major IT infrastructure and software projects across HP's customer portfolio, both government and commercial. Neil is a full member of the Association for Project Management (APM) with a BA Honours (1st Class) in Mathematics from the University of Stirling.


James Evans

Implementation Manager

James is responsible for the delivery of projects to our customers with a focus on new customer implementations. James has many years of experience in the electricity supply market and is an Electricity Settlements Expert. James sits on the Performance Assurance Board (PAB) under the Balancing & Settlement Code (BSC). James is also a member of the Profiling & Settlement Review Group (PSRG) under the BSC and a member of the FIT System Working Group for OfGEM. James has strong professional relationships with Elexon’s error and failure resolution team and wider Industry bodies including OfGEM and DECC as a member of the Feed-in-Tariff stakeholder group and Smart Metering Design Group.

James has worked with a number of new market entrants providing guidance on Market Entry, Settlement, and Metering errors.

Prior to joining EDW James worked for Utilisoft, British Energy and Ecotricity.

James is a Bachelor of Medical Sciences, Pharmacology, (Hons), University of Birmingham.


Martin Warford

Service Delivery Manager

Martin has been with EDW for 9 years and knows the ERS application inside out. He is responsible for the operation of EDW's Service Desk providing online and telephone support to our customers including release deployment management and service reporting. Martin manages the EDW Service Delivery team to achieve a very high level of performance and customer satisfaction to ensure that strong long term relationships with customers are maintained.

Martin has a 1st class (Hons) Degree in IT Computer Communications from the University of Northampton.


Iain Henderson

Service Delivery - IT Operations Team Leader

Iain leads EDW's IT Operations and Technical Support team and has worked for EDW for 10 years. Iain has extensive knowledge in the management of the ERS application including management of production deployments of ERS on behalf of clients, and all development and test environments for EDW. Iain has a detailed knowledge of technical infrastructure specialising in operating systems, networks, security, storage and virtualisation.
