Thursday 31/03 – Scottish Government publishes its Heat Networks Delivery Plan (HNDP). The Environmental Audit Committee (EAC) launches an inquiry on how the UK can reduce its reliance on oil and gas and protect households from rising fossil fuel prices.

Wednesday 30/03 – Ofgem releases its final Forward Work Programme (FWP) for 2022-23

Tuesday 29/03 – BEIS publishes a consultation seeking views on the removal of Feed in Tariff (FIT) and Contracts for Difference (CfD) scheme cost exemptions for green imported electricity and the recognition of EU Guarantees of Origin.

Monday 28/03 – BEIS publishes a summary of responses to its call for evidence on combined heat and power (CHP).


Friday 25/03 – The government publishes Taking charge: the electric vehicle (EV) infrastructure strategy.

Thursday 24/03 – BEIS publishes a statistical release on Household Energy Efficiency – GB with data to December 2021 – stating that around 3.6mn energy efficiencies were installed in 2.5mn properties through government support schemes to the end of 2021.

Wednesday 23/03 – The Chancellor Rishi Sunak delivers the Spring Statement 2022 providing an outline of the government’s fiscal plans.

Tuesday 22/03 –Written evidence submitted by Ofgem to the BEIS Committee states providers that were chosen to take on the customers of firms that went bust are expected to claim between “approximately £2.2bn to £2.4bn” from the regulator, which will later be recovered from bills charged to all UK consumers.

Monday 21/03 – The Prime Minister Boris Johnson hosts a roundtable at Downing Street with leaders from the nuclear industry to discuss how to improve domestic energy security and accelerate nuclear projects in the UK.

Thursday 17/03 – BEIS opens a consultation titled UK Offshore Energy Strategic Environmental Assessment 4 (OESEA4).

Wednesday 16/03 – Ofgem issues its decision consenting to 15 Independent Gas Transporters (IGTs) increasing their network Transportation Charges (TC) for 2022-23 to enable them to recover a fair share of Last Resort Supply Payment (LRSP) costs from their customers.

Tuesday 15/03 – The Climate Change Committee (CCC) publishes an independent assessment which states that Scotland is not yet climate ready.

Monday 14/03 – The Scottish Government publishes an analysis of responses to its Call for Evidence to inform the consideration of the future expansion of the Home Energy Efficiency Equity Loan Pilot to a nationwide support scheme.


Friday 11/03 – Ofgem publishes its decision to proceed with its proposal to enable third-party financing of Supplier of Last Resort (SoLR) costs and levies. This will introduce arrangements for a third-party financier to purchase the rights to all a SoLR’s levy payments, associated with a given SoLR event, allowing them to receive the levy payments instead of the SoLR.

Thursday 10/03 – Ofgem issues its decision to approve Workgroup Alternative CUSC Modification (WACM) 2 for CMP343 Transmission Demand Residual Bandings and Allocation for 1 April 2022 Implementation.

Wednesday 09/03 – The Climate Change Committee (CCC) publishes an independent assessment of the UK’s Heat and Buildings Strategy.
Tuesday 08/03 – BEIS announces that the UK will phase out imports of Russian oil in response to the invasion of Ukraine. The Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) secured legally binding commitments from charge point operator Gridserve.

Monday 07/03 – BEIS Committee publishes the government’s response to the Downstream Oil Resilience Bill report highlighting that the committee is supportive of the bill and its intention to enable ministers to take pre-emptive action to protect fuel supplies in the event of severe market volatility.


Friday 04/03 – Industry and Regulators Committee publishes its report, The net zero transformation: delivery, regulation and the consumer, which finds that the government is likely to miss its target for reducing emissions to net zero by 2050 unless it puts in place credible plans which are needed to drive essential investment by consumers and businesses.

Thursday 03/03 – CDP announces that out of more than 13,100 companies that had disclosed through CDP in 2021 – worth 64% of global market capital or $64trn – just 4,002 are developing a low-carbon transition plan.

Wednesday 02/03 – The Public Accounts Committee says that the government has “no clear plan for how the transition to net zero will be funded”.

Tuesday 01/03 – The Carbon Capture & Storage Association (CCSA) announces a new report published by the Nuclear AMRC as part of the High Value Manufacturing Catapult, on behalf of the Carbon Capture, Utilisation and Storage (CCUS) Council’s Supply Chain Working Group. National Grid Electricity Transmission and National Grid Gas Transmission are granted £1.5mn from Ofgem’s Strategic Innovation Fund (SIF) for 13 projects to accelerate progress towards net zero.
