Thursday 29/12 – Ørsted announces it has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Neptune Energy and Goal7 to explore integrated energy hubs in the UK North Sea with offshore wind-generated electricity.

Wednesday 28/12 – Ofgem gives notice that Zenobe Wishaw has applied for an electricity generation licence.


Friday 23/12 – Bluefield Solar Income Fund Limited announces that it has acquired a 46.4MWp operational solar portfolio from Fengate Asset Management.

Thursday 22/12 – BEIS publishes the Subnational electricity and gas consumption summary report 2021, which provides estimates of annual electricity and gas consumption below national level.

Tuesday 20/12 – HM Treasury issues a supplementary technical note for the incoming Electricity Generator Levy (EGL).

Monday 19/12 – The Science and Technology Committee publishes a report on in which it examines the role of hydrogen in reaching net zero emissions.


Friday 16/12 – BEIS issues a mid-scheme review relating to the Green Gas Support Scheme (GGSS).

Thursday 15/12 – BEIS issues its quarterly Public Attitudes Tracker in which it surveys public awareness, attitudes, and behaviours relating energy and climate change.

Wednesday 14/12 – BEIS publishes a consultation seeking views on potential amendments to future rounds of the Contracts for Difference (CfD) scheme.

Tuesday 13/12 – BEIS publishes an update to its Hydrogen Strategy which summarises government hydrogen policy developments and schemes since the publication of the July 2022 Hydrogen Strategy update to the market. The UK Government announces new funding of £102mn, as part of the Net Zero Innovation Portfolio, to support clean energy production in the UK.

Monday 12/12 – BEIS publishes several policy statements and draft regulations pertaining to the Energy Security Bill.


Friday 09/12 – Ofgem publishes its re-distribution of late Renewables Obligation (RO) payments which it received from suppliers for the 2021-22 RO year.

Thursday 08/12 – The BEIS Secretary of State grants planning permission for the Keadby 3 Carbon Capture Power Station, having been submitted to the Planning Inspectorate for consideration in June 2021.

Wednesday 07/12 – The Department for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities publishes a decision letter and Inspector’s report granting planning permission for a new underground metallurgical coal mine and associated development at the former Marchon Site in Whitehaven, Cumbria.

Tuesday 06/12 – The Department for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities announces that it will consult on proposed changes to national planning policy on onshore wind development to examine how local communities can get involved.

Monday 05/12 – Elexon announces that its new Insights Solution data platform Real-time Information Service (IRIS) is now available. The Insights Solution is a cloud-based wholesale market data service which will replace the Balancing Mechanism Reporting Service (BMRS) once all datasets have been migrated onto the new platform – planned to be complete by the end of 2023.


Friday 02/12 – The Scottish Government announces it will provide enhanced support to people installing climate-friendly heat and energy efficiency measures in their homes.

Thursday 01/12 – Ofgem publishes its decision on new Network and Information Systems (NIS) Enforcement Guidelines, and Penalty Policy. These guidelines aim to provide greater clarity, consistency and transparency to the regulators enforcement policies and processes.
