Tuesday 31/01 – BEIS publishes two reports setting out early findings from an independent evaluation of the Green Homes Grant Voucher Scheme (GHGVS).

Monday 30/01 – Ofgem publishes a letter from Ofgem’s CEO, Jonathan Brearley, to the Chancellor of the Exchequer, detailing its concerns and actions around the current issues the non-domestic market is facing.


Friday 27/01 – BEIS publishes its Heat Networks Zoning Social Research report setting out the findings of its research undertaken to inform the development and implementation of future heat networks zoning policy.

Thursday 26/01 – BEIS publishes its energy trends and prices statistical release for the three-month period September to November 2022.

Wednesday 25/01 –The Public Accounts Committee (PAC) issues a report raising concerns over operations of the UK Investment Bank (UKIB) during its early stages

Tuesday 24/01 – The government issues guidance for the Domestic Alternative Fuel Payment (AFP) scheme, aimed at electricity suppliers to explain how they should implement it in GB.

Monday 23/01 – BEIS publishes a letter from the Secretary of State to National Grid Electricity System Operator setting out adjustments to the Capacity Market auction parameters for delivery years 2023-24 (T-1) and 2026-27 (T-4).


Friday 20/01 – Ofgem publishes updated guidance on its administration of the Green Gas Levy (GGL), superseding the version published in July 2022.

Thursday 19/01 – The UK Government announces that it has switched 25.5% of its central car fleet to ultra-low emission vehicles (ULEVs).

Wednesday 18/01 – The Institute for Public Policy Research (IPPR) publishes new research calling for a further £5.8bn planned investment to be brought forward from 2025.

Tuesday 17/01 – The government announces that, together with Ofgem, it is publishing The Electric Vehicle Smart Charging Action Plan, setting out steps to unlock the potential of smart electric vehicle (EV) charging.

Monday 16/01 – The UK Government announces that all households and businesses in the north of Scotland will continue to be protected from the higher costs of distributing electricity to the area, following the outcome of its latest three year review and consultation on the Hydro Benefit Replacement Scheme (HBRS) and Common Tariff Obligation (CTO).


Friday 13/01 – The government announces it has published its final report on its independent review of the government’s approach to delivering its net zero target, to ensure that it is pro-business and pro-growth.

Thursday 12/01 – Citizens Advice states that 3.2mn people across GB ran out of credit on their prepayment meter last year. The organisation has also found that more than 2mn people are being disconnected at least once a month.

Wednesday 11/01 – Ofgem gives notice of its proposal to confirm the Provisional Order (PO) that was issued to Delta Gas and Power, following concerns that the supplier was unable to meet the Operational Capability and Financial Responsibility principles.

Tuesday 10/01 – The Scottish Government publishes its Draft Energy Strategy and Just Transition Plan for consultation.

Monday 09/01 – The government announces a new Energy Bills Discount Scheme (EBDS) that will apply to eligible non-domestic customers from 1 April 2023 to 31 March 2024. BEIS issues a press release outlining proposals to reform GB’s Capacity Market (CM).


Friday 06/01 – Ofgem published a consultation on how the proposed ECO+ scheme should be reflected within the Default Tariff Cap,

Thursday 05/01 – The Environmental Audit Committee (EAC) announces that it has published a report titled Accelerating the transition from fossil fuels and securing energy supplies.

Wednesday 04/01 – Ofgem publishes details for outstanding Renewables Obligation (RO) late payments that have been recovered from suppliers that are in administration.

Tuesday 03/01 – The Department for Transport (DfT) publishes its Renewable Transport Fuel Obligation (RTFO) compliance guidance for 2023.

Monday 02/01 – The government announces it will provide £75mn for its new Nuclear Fuel Fund (NFF).
