Monday 31/10 – Ofgem publishes its quarterly report for activity under the Green Gas Support Scheme (GGSS).


Friday 28/10 – Centrica announces it has reopened Rough gas storage facility.

Thursday 27/10 – The International Energy Agency publishes its World Energy Outlook 2022 in which it discusses the ongoing price shocks seen across the global energy system along with analysis on future energy trends.

Wednesday 26/10 – The Welsh Government announces plans to create a state-owned renewable energy developer in response to the cost-of-living crisis and concerns over energy insecurity.

Tuesday 25/10 – The Prime Minister appoints a new cabinet, including Grant Shapps as the Secretary of State for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy and Thérèse Coffey as Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs.

Monday 24/10 – Rishi Sunak becomes the new Prime Minister.


Friday 21/10 – The government confirms that it will supply £211mn in funding for battery research and innovation.

Thursday 20/10 – BEIS announces that it has published the first set of payments data relating to the Energy Bills Support Scheme (EBSS) as of 1 October 2022.

Wednesday 19/10 – Ofgem issues guidance detailing the supplier administration for phase four of the Energy Company Obligation (ECO4), which came into effect in April 2022.

Tuesday 18/10 – UK Government announces that it has made £20mn available through its Green Home Finance Accelerator to lenders and other organisations.

Monday 17/10 – The new Chancellor of The Exchequer Jeremy Hunt announces that support under the Energy Price Guarantee will be reviewed after six months and the government will launch a HM Treasury-led review to consider how it may support households and businesses with energy bills after April 2023.


Friday 14/10 – Ofgem approves UNC822 Reform of Gas Demand Side Response Arrangements for implementation on 17 October 2022. The modification will ensure that the Gas Demand Side Response (DSR) mechanism is fit for purpose ahead of winter 2022-23.

Thursday 13/10 – The Climate Change Committee (CCC) publishes its report titled Voluntary Carbon Markets and Offsetting in which it highlights that businesses are turning increasingly to offsetting to reach net zero.

Wednesday 12/10 – The Environment and Climate Change Committee publishes a report warning that the UK Government's current approach to enabling behaviour change is “seriously inadequate and will result in the UK failing to meet its net zero and environment targets”.

Tuesday 11/10 – BEIS announces that the UK Government is introducing the Energy Prices Bill, on Wednesday 12 October, putting into law support designed to help households, businesses, and others with energy costs this winter.

Monday 10/10 – BEIS publishes transparency data for the Energy Bill Relief Scheme (EBRS), detailing the discount rates for fixed and default/variable contracts.


Friday 07/10 – Ofgem rejects DCP313 Eligibility Criteria for EDCM Generation Credits which sought to improve the transparency of the criteria for generators to receive super red credits and to improve the consistency of application across distribution network operators.

Thursday 06/10 – National Grid ESO (NGESO) publishes its Winter Outlook Report 2022-23, building on its Early View of Winter document and focusing on the upcoming winter (31 October 2022 to 31 March 2023) in GB.

Wednesday 05/10 – Ofgem approves WACM 3 ofCMP395 Cap BSUoS Costs and Defer Payment to 2023/24 to Protect GB Customers which will set the BSUoS cap at £40/MWh without reassessment.

Tuesday 04/10 – New AutoMotive publishes data for September 2022 revealing that ~17% of all UK car sales are now fully electric.

Monday 03/10 – Ofgem publishes its response BEIS’s consultation reviewing the Energy Intensive Industries (EII) exemption scheme which closed on 16 September 2022.
