Thursday 29/02 – DESNZ issues a call for evidence to support the development of a future policy framework for biomethane production, which would incentivise the continued growth of biomethane production when the Green Gas Support Scheme ends in March 2028.

Wednesday 28/02 – The Climate Change Committee publishes a letter written to the Minister of State for Energy Security and Net Zero providing advice on the Third Carbon Budget.

Tuesday 27/02 – DESNZ publishes a call for evidence seeking responses to help inform the design of the hydrogen and carbon, capture, utilisation, and storage Green Industries Growth Accelerator supply chain fund. DESNZ publishes the Capacity Market Auction Monitor report for the Capacity Market T-1 auction during the 2024 to 2025 delivery year, setting out the list of bidders and corresponding Capacity Market Units which were awarded capacity agreements during the auction. National Grid Electricity System Operator publishes its provisional auction report on the T-4 Capacity Auction for delivery in 2027-28.

Monday 26/02 – enfinium announces that its proposal to install carbon capture and storage technology has been designated as a Project of National Significance by the Secretary of State for Energy Security and Net Zero.


Friday 23/02 – Ofgem announces that the Default Tariff Cap level will be set at £1,690 for cap period 1 April to 30 June 2024 for an average dual fuel household paying by direct debit, based on the 2023 typical domestic consumption values.

Thursday 22/02 – The UK Government announces that it has withdrawn from the Energy Charter Treaty.

Wednesday 21/02 – The government publishes a summary of responses received to its consultation on a Strategy and Policy Statement (SPS) for energy policy in GB, along with the draft SPS for energy policy in GB.

Tuesday 20/02 – National Grid Electricity System Operator publishes the provisional results of the T-1 Capacity Market Auction for delivery year 2024-25.

Monday 19/02 – UK Government publishes details on the successful projects from Round 2 of the Levelling Up Fund.


Friday 16/02 – Ofgem issues a consultation seeking views on the outturn performance metrics of the Distribution System Operation incentive.

Thursday 15/02 – The government publishes its response to its consultation on developing local partnerships for onshore wind in England, which sought views on improvements to the existing system of community engagement and community benefits for onshore wind in England.

Wednesday 14/02 – The Business and Trade Committee publishes the response from the Department of Business and Trade on its First Report of Session 2023-24, titled Batteries for electric vehicle manufacturing.

Tuesday 13/02 – The Environmental Audit Committee publishes a letter to the Secretary of State for Energy Security and Net Zero on the government’s plans for small modular reactors. The government issues a consultation seeking views on changes to several existing permitted development rights for households, including on electric vehicle chargepoints and air source heat pumps.

Monday 12/02 – The government publishes its quarterly Renewable Energy Planning Database for Q423, which tracks the progress of UK renewable electricity projects over 150kW through the planning system.


Friday 09/02 –Ofgem issues a consultation on a proposed Supplier of Last Resort Levy Offset. The regulator proposes that gas and electricity distribution network companies could recover funds from a failed supplier, via a provable claim in an insolvency process.

Thursday 08/02 – The House of Lords Industry and Regulators Committee issues a report examining the performance, independence, and accountability of UK regulators.

Wednesday 07/02 – Ofgem publishes a consultation on its proposals for dealing with late or uncertain inputs to the Default Tariff Cap for April 2024 relating to the Capacity Market, alongside planned changes to the Energy Intensive Industry exemption scheme.

Tuesday 06/02 – The Environment and Climate Change Committee publishes a report on the UK’s EV strategy.

Monday 05/02 – The UK Government announces several new measures to boost the rollout of electric vehicle (EV) chargepoints. The government issues a consultation seeking views on changing legal access for street works carried out by EV chargepoint operators.


Friday 02/02 – Ofgem publishes the Green Gas Levy Annual Scheme Schedule for the period April 2024 to March 2025. This document sets out an administrative timetable for 2024-25 and provides suppliers with advanced notice of key dates.

Thursday 01/02 – Ofgem publishes its decision to make amendments to the Consolidated Segmental Statement (CSS) licence requirement. The changes aim to expand the scope of the CSS reporting obligation by reducing the threshold that obligates suppliers.
