Friday 22/12 – The UK Government publishes updated guidance regarding the Climate Change Agreements scheme.

Thursday 21/12 – The UK Government announces that it has agreed to extend trade rules on electric vehicles with the EU until the end of 2026.

Wednesday 20/12 – DESNZ publishes a document outlining its vision for the UK’s carbon capture, usage and storage sector in the 2030s.

Tuesday 19/12 – The Crown Estate reports that it has signed a renewed Statement of Intent with the Electricity System Operator to collaborate more closely on future strategic planning.

Monday 18/12 – The UK Government publishes the outcome of its consultation looking at how to address carbon leakage risk to support decarbonisation.


Friday 15/12 – The Energy Security and Net Zero (ESNZ) Committee announces that it has published the government’s response to its Preparing for the winter report. Ofgem publishes a consultation on its additional debt costs review and the proposal to introduce a temporary allowance into the Default Tariff Cap, which will result in a £16 increase in bills for direct debit and standard credit customers.

Thursday 14/12 – DESNZ issues a consultation seeking feedback on proposals that market intervention may be required to support the deployment of hydrogen to power (H2P).

Wednesday 13/12 – The United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change publishes the draft decision of its First global stocktake.

Tuesday 12/12 – Elexon reports that Viking Link interconnector carried out some commissioning test flows.

Monday 11/12 – DESNZ publishes its annual Statutory security of supply report: 2023 – an assessment of the availability of secure, affordable electricity, gas, and oil for meeting the needs of consumers. HMRC publishes the outcome of its consultation on the expansion of the VAT relief on energy-saving materials.


Friday 08/12 – Ofgem issues a call for input on the liquidity in the GB wholesale electricity market.

Thursday 07/12 – DESNZ publishes a report setting out the findings from evaluation research into the Green Heat Network Fund Transition Scheme and findings from evaluation research for the Heat Networks Investment Project Main Scheme.

Wednesday 06/12 – DESNZ publishes an update to its March 2023 Energy Security Plan, which formed part of its Powering Up Britain package.

Tuesday 05/12 – The UK Government announces the successful grant applicants of the Offshore Coordination Support Scheme.

Monday 04/12 – DESNZ publishes a consultation on amendments to The Contracts for Difference (Electricity Supplier Obligations) Regulations 2014, to enable payments under the Dispatchable Power Agreement (power CCUS). The UK Government announces that UK Export Finance, alongside other export credit agencies (ECA), has joined a Net Zero Export Credit Agencies Alliance launched at COP28.


Friday 01/12 – The Prime Minister and His Majesty The King both deliver speeches at COP28. DESNZ publishes a consultation, seeking views on the Carbon Capture and Storage Network Code, part of the new regulatory regime describing arrangements between CO2 network users and transport and storage companies.
