Wednesday 31/05 – The Competition and Markets Authority publishes a report examining the challenges faced by consumers looking to buy green home heating technologies.

Tuesday 30/05 – Ofgem publishes the draft version of the Great British Insulation Scheme (GBIS) supplier administration guidance. The draft guidance has been prepared to allow stakeholders to review Ofgem’s proposed administration of the scheme, with feedback requested by 30 June 2023.

Monday 29/05 – Bank Holiday.

Friday 26/05 – The UK Government responds to the Welsh Affairs Committee’s report, Floating Offshore wind (FLOW) in Wales, stating that it is committed to “placing the UK at the forefront” of floating offshore wind.

Thursday 25/05 – Ofgem announces that Default Tariff Cap level will be set at £2,074 for cap period 10b (1 July to 30 September 2023) for a dual fuel household paying by direct debit based on typical consumption.

Wednesday 24/05 – The Climate Change Committee (CCC) publishes a new report, A Net Zero workforce, which provides an overview of the evidence on the potential impacts of net zero for the UK workforce to inform the government’s Net Zero and Nature Workforce Action Plan that is due in early 2024.

Tuesday 23/05 – The Social Market Foundation (SMF) publishes a report, tilted We can’t keep heating like this: A fairer deal for heat networks highlighting that 900,000 households on heat networks risk facing increases to their energy bills, by 700% in some cases.

Monday 22/05 – Ofgem publishes a direction to create eight new RIIO-2 re-opener application windows in which licensees can apply for changes to their Cyber OT, Cyber IT, and Non-Operational IT Capex re-opener allowances.

Friday 19/05 – The National Audit Office publishes its Support for innovation to deliver net zero report looking at whether the government is set to deliver value for money from its approach to investment in research and innovation.

Thursday 18/05 – DESNZ publishes a response to its consultation on whether there is a rationale for increased measures to mitigate the increased costs of electricity for energy intensive industries.

Wednesday 17/05 – DESNZ publishes a consultation on price-based competitive allocation for low carbon hydrogen.

Tuesday 16/05 – The Competition and Markets Authority publishes its response to the Scottish Government’s consultation on its Draft Energy Strategy and Just Transition Plan.

Monday 15/05 – Ofgem publishes its draft Great British Insulation Scheme delivery guidance which sets out the proposed procedure of administering the Energy Company Obligation scheme.

Friday 12/05 – DESNZ announces that seven heat network projects across England will receive a share of £91mn from the government’s Green Heat Network Fund (GHNF).

Thursday 11/05 – DESNZ publishes a consultation on the development of local partnerships for onshore wind.

Wednesday 10/05 – DESNZ publishes a consultation on its proposed Strategy and Policy Statement for energy policy in GB.

Tuesday 09/05 – The Department for Business and Trade announces £77mn in new funding for projects developing clean transport technologies.
